Winter is a one-year-old Bernese/Husky Mix that was surrendered to a shelter with little information about her history and was out of time. Another rescue reached out to Hounds of Freedom, needing help as they had no room or fosters for Winter.
Tonya, the founder of Hounds of Freedom, being a husky-savvy owner and lover, knew she had to step in immediately. Tonya brought Winter to her home, hoping to find an immediate foster/adopter. However, within 24 hours, she knew this dog needed help. Winter was big and had zero obedience, was destructive, and not friendly with other dogs. The only thing she had going for her is that she loved people and attention. Professional training is expensive, and even more so for a rescue working with limited funds, but a decision had to be made as without training, Winter didn't stand a chance!
Winter went through a five-week boarded training and was adopted shortly after.
We thank our local VFW 3762 and supporters that made this possible by donating towards Winter's training, giving her the best chance to experience life!
Hounds of Freedom, with the support of the community, will continue to change the lives of dogs across the USA.
